👋 Hello Slip ‘n Slimers! Team lead, programmer, and resident cool guy Carter here.
A lot of our slime fans are asking where the heck Slip ‘n Slime has been the last 4 years.
Secret’s out — we’ve been cooking on our most colossal update yet: The project has been entirely redone from scratch in ✨ A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT GAME ENGINE! ✨
Let's compare what it looked and felt like in the last engine, versus where it is now after all our hard work!

2024 NEW GAMEPLAY FOOTAGE
The team is putting in countless hours to improve every aspect of Slip n’ Slime for our beloved future players.
If you can’t wait to check it out yourself, join the Discord to be an early playtester!
We’ll also be attending Day of the Devs and GDC 2024. Come by for a hands-on look at the game in beautiful San Francisco!
Now, let's dive into our enchanting slime’s glow-up. 🧙
🚂 An Entirely New Engine
- The entire game has been rebuilt in the Godot game engine. We're now able to iterate on features faster than ever and more easily export to multiple platforms!
🧩 Level Design
- A ton of new levels are in the works and we will be showing them to our early playtesters soon!
- We’ve formalized a philosophy for how we design our levels, making for a more cohesive experience. Extensive deliberation has gone into difficulty level, difficulty curve, tutorial, what mechanics to include, and how each mechanic should interact with each other.
- Overall size and scale of the game have been laid out so we have a satisfying, succinct experience for our players.
- Shoutout to Nick, our level designer!
🎨 Art
- New Slime! Wow! So cute! The slime is cuter and more gelatinous than ever!
- New slime animations! The slime wobbles when idle, and we’re working on impact animations.
- We’re in the process of a complete refresh of the pixel art world of our slime, with new zones coming soon.
- Created buttons and icons for the main menu and pause menu .
- Each mechanical tile has upgraded art with animations to indicate they are interactable.
- Several rough edges on the art have been cleaned up and polished.
- Shout out to Stein, Bradley, Hayes, and Bob!
▶️ Quality of Life
- Added an undo button. Huge implications for gameplay (and my speedrun record).
- Completely rewrote the code for detecting swipes on mobile, allowing you to input as many swipes in advance as you want. The movement is smooth like butter (or slime!).
- Improved the game’s camera, making it focus on areas of interest and move around cleanly. (Let us know if you’d like a look behind-the-scenes on this complex process!)
- Squashed tons of minor (and major) bugs.
🎵Music and Sound Effects
- We now have music and sound effects! Shoutout to our new musician Rob and SFX artist Miles for bringing our magical world to the next level.
That’s only some of the awesome work that everyone on the team has been doing! Our indie studio is really gaining momentum, just like our lil’ slime protagonist everytime he slides. As always, my heartfelt gratitude to our dedicated team members who are balancing school, work, and more in order to bring together this passion project.
Until next time, join us on Discord to follow along with our development and behind the scenes updates! We can’t wait to chat with you soon and bring a fantastic gaming experience to our players.
